#2 is here. Appreciate all the music conversations that came out of this. A few of you asked about Badbadnotgood, because they are my favorite band, and asked how they are Jazz. I recommend going through their catalogue album by album chronologically (old to new) vs Spotify top songs. You'll see a very tremendous progression. Separately, I'm sure everyone geeks out like I do about jazz and hip hop coming together. Someone said this is called "nujazz" or "new jazz" - I hate that terminology and will brainstorm a new genre name. We will be seeing a lot more of this fusion as kids from the 80s and 90s, who grew up with inspiration of both genres, are now at music making age. I'm excited.
I am debating going to see Lee Fields on Staten Island on Sept 13. He is the best soul singer alive right now and a real treat. Text if you'd like to make the journey with me.
A new logo will be coming on the next newsletter, thanks to a friend! He's pretty creative.
